Utah Roller

Matt Wetzel of Hurricane, UT is the newest owner of this '64 Rampside. Unfortunately, a prior owner removed the body data plate so we don't have the original trim or paint code, but the truck is fairly original and appears to be wearing a factory paint job, blue with white stripe. The power train is the original 95 HP engine with a 3.55:1 4-speed transmission.

Matt described how he came to own this truck:

"My father was driving to Salt Lake City and stopped at a gas station in a small town called Scipio. He was looking for parts for his '64 Rambler when he saw this truck and a '61 Lakewood. He called to tell me and I had him check the VIN. It was a '64!

I drove up the next Saturday with the money to buy it. What my dad forgot to tell me it was a wreck! I bought it anyway because it's so rare. There was no title but the seller gave me the paperwork to get one.

The story from him was the Lakewood was towing the Rampy when the right rear wheel bearing let go on the wagon. The Rampy came loose and rolled over a couple of times. The guy sold them both to the owner of the gas station and that's all I know."

I look forward to seeing some pictures. I hope the damage is not too severe and that this truck can get back on the road.
