TLC in Georgia

Gordon Hunter of Alpharetta, GA is the newest owner of this 1964 Rampside. I learned of the truck through Mike McKeel, a member of the '65 Greenbrier registry and traveling mechanic.

Gordon had the following to say about his project vehicle in January 2003:

"So much has happened in the last couple of months that I'm only now getting some time to communicate. First and foremost, I retired from my employment on December 1st and so now I'm adjusting and trying to get organized. I have so many projects and hobbies that I'll never have time for them all. Anyway, the '64 Ramp is one of my hot projects and the truck is now at a paint and body shop to get it looking good and as original as I can get it.

I don't know much about the history of the truck but I do know the previous owner, who had it for a few years, never drove it (future restoration project). I do believe that it was a local (GA) truck. It is a good, solid truck with very little rust, so it should turn out pretty good when we are finished. I plan to use it regularly and do not plan to make a show vehicle out of it.

We put a rebuilt FC engine in it. It is either a late '63 or early '64 (code V). It did not have its original engine when I bought it. It had a 3-speed trans in it and we changed it over to a 4-speed.

According to the paint code it was an all white truck. Someone had painted the stripe around it red and I like it enough that I think I'll keep it that way. I'll stay in touch and keep you informed. As soon as it's finished I'll take some photos and scan them for you."

Can't wait to see the pictures!
