Although my car is considered factory stock by CORSA judging standards, I knew the shock absorbers were incorrect for '66 Canadian production. Canadian Corvairs used Delco-produced "spiral" shocks, like their U.S. brethren, but they were stamped Delco Canada (with the lettering facing the down instead of up), used a different date coding system, and were painted black.

Debbie Granger graciously gave me the used original rear shocks from her Monza coupe (#1930), produced shortly after my car. Through Hemmings Motor News, I located Dan Patch of Shawnee, Kansas. He rebuilt the used shocks and, even better, had the correct equipment to stamp new front shock cases and assemble them! A close-up photo of one of the front shocks is at left.
