Dale Stephens, the son of the owner, provided the following information on this acquisition by his Dad, in June, 2000. This is the second '65 Greenbrier at E. D.'s house.

Dale found that the engine date code is T1120RU, which is very likely the original. The build date of 11/20 agrees quite closely with the van's assembly month of December. The RU suffix indicates a correct 1965 Greenbrier 110 HP engine block with manual transmission.

The Protecto Plate says it was sold to Zip's Drive-In in Kennewick, WA on 07-23-65. The rig doesn't have very much rust so it must have spent its early years on the east, dry side of the state. It's interesting that the vehicle was built in December, 1964 but not sold until July, 1965—I suppose it sat on the dealer's lot or was perhaps used by the dealer until that time.
